Spring Break in Palm Springs

7:55:00 PM

Hello friends! I am back from a fun trip down south for spring break a little tanner, a little more rested, with a bit less money and a lot more laughs. I'd like to give a s/o to my wonderful friends Megan, Soleil, Kloi, and Susan, thanks for the mems, love you lots.

FRIDAY: We started last Friday, with me slightly delirious coming off a night shift and 3 hours of sleep.  Soleil drove us to Arroyo Grande, right near SLO, where Megan lives. Anytime I'm with these girls, it's a constant good time. We laughed, sang, and danced our way through the 4 hour trip. Once settled at Megan's we headed into San Luis Obispo for dinner at Firestone Grill, an old favorite of me and Megan. Then we topped off the night with frozen yogurt at Teaberry (a must in downtown SLO) and a quick stop to say hello to my brother Chris and best friend Jackie! A successful day 1.

SATURDAY:  We were up early and focused on our first priority: acai bowls; because our lives basically just revolve around when and what we can eat next. They were amazing, as usual. I really recommend checking out Kravabowl if you are near Pismo Beach! Their pitaya bowl is as pretty as it is yummy!

The rest of the day was spent singing, talking, and stopping at Starbucks (I'm looking at you Suz!). We got to Palm Springs late around 7 and LET ME TELL YOU, we were so happy to get out of that car! It was fun, but we were all sung out and stir crazy. The vacation time share Megan's parents most generously let us use is the Oasis in Palm Springs. It was GORGEOUS. We had our own house with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a great kitchen and tv and 8 pools  (EIGHT!!!!!! that is a crazy amount of pools). Needless to say, it was way nicer than you would expect 5 college girls to have for spring break, thanks again Lynn and John! After a successful shopping trip, we were stocked full of all the necessities and we, being savvy independent gals, had a feast of bagel bites, licorice, and fudgecicles.

SUNDAY: This day was basically a blur of sun, pool, and food. We lazed about for hours, took the mandatory Starbucks trip, and tried not the get fried. Then Soleil's grandma, invited us over to the nicest spread of appetizers ever. And to top that off, she took us all out to dinner at Tommy Bahama! Apparently it is not just a store, it is also a swanky, seafood restaurant for all those Tommy-Bahama-wearing, golf-playing palm springs couples. Who knew!

MONDAY: (better known as Bachelor Day) This was another glorious poolside day that started with brunch and was followed by what the East Coasters called "Sunday dinner", basically a huge spread of pasta and garlic bread, of which I am now a big fan. Then we OF COURSE watched the Bachelor finale!! Three hours of pure bliss. Lauren won, as predicted, but who's excited to watch Jojo kill it as Bachelorette (ME duh)?!

TUESDAY: Aka last day in paradise; Spent poolside, or rather, on the pool steps because it was too dang hot to sit anywhere else! There were lots of selfies in Megan's floppy hat and popsicles in the sun. We finished the day with a trip to the River Walk, which may sound like a nature hike, but is actually a man-made pond surrounded by shops, what a weird concept of nature these LA people have. We then topped it off the right way with a homemade Taco Tuesday, which was pretty delicioso if I do say so myself.

WEDNESDAY: We checked out, drove to Burbank and dropped off Susan for her flight back to SF. Then me, Megan, Soleil, and Kloi  had a very LA day: we went to Lemonade, a hip Hollywood restaurant that they loved and I thought was overrated. Then we went to Griffith Observatory lookout to see the view of downtown and the Hollywood sign, and took about a thousand pics. Then we drove the rest of the way to Soleil's and hung out until family dinner at their favorite restaurant and frozen yogurt at the mall, because like I said, our lives revolve around food.

THURSDAY: Also known as Disney day!!! We woke up bright an early and were at the park right after the gates opened. Our group way very excited, Soleil is a Disney regular, Kloi is basically a certified Disney princess, and me and Megan hadn't been in a few years.

We rode ride after ride and ate waaaayyyy too much junk food all day long. I'm talking churros, Dole Whip, tacos, ice cream, frozen lemonade, corndogs and more, we do not mess around, people! Calfornia Screamin' takes the cake for my favorite ride, and it was so nice we rode it twice.

Our day ended up being something like 14 hours, which still wasn't enough to warrant the obscene cost ($160 is highway robbery!!), if you ask me, but it was a great day!. Then we topped off our very Californian day with In n Out, because why not?

FRIDAY: We left Kloi in LA with family and took the loooooong trek up the 101 all the way back to SF. I personally can take no credit, it was all Soleil, all I did was nap on and off and drink a slurpee. We reutrned to a grey and freezing San Francisco, what a treat.

Another great spring break is behind us, and we are all bummed as hell to go back to classes. But to cushion the blow, we only have a 3.5 day week, so here's to a quick few days!
